Subhabrata Sanyal, Ph.D.

Head of In Vivo Science
Sanyal is interested in discovering treatments for neurological diseases.
About
Sanyal is a translational neuroscientist with interest in neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson’s disease and ALS, as well as sensory disorders such as hearing loss and glaucoma. He is intrigued by the interaction between aging and neurodegeneration and looks for fundamental principles that derive from both model organism and patient studies.
Before joining Calico as a translational neuroscientist, Sanyal was a Principal Investigator at Biogen where he led target discovery efforts in Parkinson’s disease. Prior to that, he held joint appointments in the departments of Cell Biology and Neurology at the Emory School of Medicine. His academic group worked on synaptic plasticity, sleep and neurodegeneration.
