Shane identifies promising external innovation collaboration opportunities in industry and academia, focusing on age-related diseases such as oncology, neurodegeneration, metabolic dysfunction and inflammation.
Prior to joining Calico, Shane managed business development and strategy at several early-stage biotech companies, including Surface Oncology and Leap Therapeutics (a HealthCare Ventures portfolio company). Before joining Leap, Shane served as an associate at HealthCare Ventures, focusing on company creation, portfolio management, and business strategy, especially on preclinical and Phase 1 oncology programs. He started his career as a strategy consultant at Health Advances.
