Matthew works in the Melamud Lab where he uses his knowledge of physiology and expertise in developing in-vivo experimental approaches to explore novel hypotheses generated from large scale human datasets. His long-term goal is to better understand biological mechanisms that drive human aging, develop an ex-vivo experimental system for modeling homeostatic imbalances, and develop therapeutics for people to live longer and healthier lives.
Why Matthew works at Calico
"I work at Calico because it is a homing beacon for the greatest, most ambitious scientific minds on the planet. As a bench scientist, I get to work directly with some of the best physicists, computational biologists, and pharmacologists on the biological problem that affects everyone – aging. Calico is truly collaborative at its core and this is reflected in its structure, culture and people. There simply is no better place for me to work."
