Martin Mullis is a Scientist in the Ruby Lab

Martin Mullis

Leveraging his background in quantitative genetics, Martin examines the consequences of genetic variation on complex phenotypes like disease susceptibility or lifespan. Using genome-wide association studies, genetic correlations, and other analyses, he identifies variants that are likely to have the largest effects on health outcomes. Information from Martin’s analyses can be applied to form hypotheses about which genes impact different aspects of aging and to design experiments to test their effects.

Why Martin works at Calico

"Calico is the ideal place to work on ambitious research projects that have the potential to make a positive impact on human aging and healthspan. By combining the best parts of academia and industry with leading scientific minds from diverse research backgrounds, I feel like I learn something new every day."
