Nicholas Eriksson, Ph.D.Nicholas Eriksson, Ph.D. Principal Data Scientist

Research Focus

I enjoy applying tools from discrete mathematics, statistics, and machine learning to problems throughout the life sciences. At Calico, I am interested in understanding the interplay between genetics and phenotypes during the aging process.

Before joining Calico, I was a data scientist at Coursera, where I used machine learning to personalize recommendations for online learners and studied the factors that improve online course retention. Prior to Coursera, I was a Principal Scientist in Statistical Genetics at 23andMe, where my team and I studied the genetics of complex human diseases and traits, including everything from Parkinson's disease to cilantro preferences.
