Scott studies how molecular networks operate and contribute to the aging process.

Organisms rely on complex and interconnected networks to adapt to environmental cues and thrive. Scott’s lab is engaged in interdisciplinary research at the interface of cellular biology, synthetic biology, and engineering to understand the structure and functional connectivity of these networks.
After completing his PhD, Scott joined Amyris, Inc. to use synthetic biology for improving environmental sustainability. He then completed a postdoc at Caltech with Frances Arnold to engineer rhodopsins for applications in bioenergy production and neuroscience.
