The York Lab uses math, physics, engineering and coding to make biological imaging faster, gentler, higher resolution and more useful. Their mission is to keep Calico’s microscopy capabilities on the cutting edge, and to advance their field as rapidly as possible by inventing and disseminating new imaging techniques. Recent projects involve light-sheet microscopy, stimulated emission imaging, fluorescent probe development, localization microscopy, and deconvolution. Before joining Calico, Andrew invented the first superresolution microscope with no drawbacks. This simple trick works “instantly”, doesn’t require computation, and is the technology behind all-optical superresolution microscopes like the Yokogawa SoRa and the VisiTech iSIM.
